CHIBRO
El Chibro
The CHIBRO pressfitting
System allows to realize, in a reliable and economic way, pipelines
of various type of plants in the industrial, residential, commercial
and shipbuilding fields, in the range of diameters from 15 up to
108 mm.
The CHIBRO pressfitting System consists of the following components:
*
Fittings
bends, tee pieces, reducers, etc. of austenitic Cr-Ni-Mo stainless
steel, according to AISI 316 L standard (No. 1.4404 according to
UNI EN 10088).
*
Pipes
welded pipes of austenitic Cr-Ni-Mo stainless steel, according to
AISI 316 L standard (No. 1.4404 according to UNI EN 10088).
*
Electrohydraulic pressing tools
for the connection of components by pressing the fittings onto the
pipe ends.
The range of component is completed with various accessories that
can be coupled to the pipes with the same technique of CHIBRO pressfitting
System.
Main advantages of CHIBRO pressfitting System
* simple and fast assembly
* reliability of pipework also in severe service condition
*
elimination of workshop labour normally carried out with conventional
systems
* corrosion resistance
* weight reduction of moved and installed material
* no fire hazard during installation
THE FITTINGS OF CHIBRO PRESSFITTING
The basic elements of the System are the specially designed CHIBRO
pressfitting fittings of stainless steel AISI 316 L that are available
in various forms and dimensions (see range of manufacture) and allow
to install pipelines by using fittings and straight pipes only.
Fittings have at each end a toroidal groove with an o-ring seal,
in synthetic rubber, which deformed by a pressing tool provides
the tightness to the coupling.
The mechanical strength is ensured by the deformation of fitting
and inserted pipe.
The sealing o-ring is made of EPDM, a rubber particularly resistant
to ageing, ozone, heat, as well as to chemicals, including conditioners
normally used for drinking water and for cooling systems.
Pipe systems for fuel oil or for lubricants shoud have their fittings
equipped with o-rings of NBR, a particular oil withstanding rubber.
Using suitable adaptor fittings, it is possible to connect pipelines
made with CHIBRO pressfitting Systems with threaded or flanged standard
elements.
THE PIPES OF CHIBRO PRESSFITTING
The second element of the System are the stainless steel AISI 316
L CHIBRO pressfitting pipes supplied in fixed lengths of 6 m.
The range of pipe dimensions is the following:
In order to guarantee a perfect tightness of the system in all service
conditions, pipes have tole-rances within the limits specified in
EN ISO 127
D4/T4 standard.
CONNECTION OF PIPES TO THE FITTINGS
To make the connection, the pipe is inserted into the fitting until
it reaches the stop.
The end of the fitting is then pressed onto the pipe by means of
a suitable pressing tool operated electrohydraulically (see applications).
The controlled deformation of the fitting and pipe generated by
the pressing tool, provides the mechanical strength of the connection,
since slip off and turning of coupled parts are prevented, while
watertightness is produced by the deformation of the o-ring located
in the groove of the fitting (see fig. 1).
A connection made in this way will cope with stresses arising during
installation and when piping is in service (vibrations, thermal
expansions, etc.) if proper attention is given to the installation
guidelines detailed on installation.
TOOLS FOR COUPLING
Electro-hydraulical tool PE1 together with its variants PB1 (battery)
and PM1 (hand powered) crimps all sizes up to o.d. 54 mm whereas
Mod. PS1 - also electro-hydraulical - deals with sizes 76,1 - 88,9
- 108 mm.
Any of the tools must be equipped with a suitable interchangeable
jaw according to the pipe size to crimp.
The tools, through the locking of the jaws, generate a controlled
deformation of the fitting ends and pipe together to form a permanent
watertight joint.
Model PE1 presses with a strength of 100 KN while Model PS1 presses
with a strength of 200 KN.
The technical data of tools and their operating instructions are
given in the relevant catalogue.
